A lot of the latest development theses from vertical series studios emphasize pre-tested IP and adaptations. It makes sense given the latest Owl & Co report about the demand for existing IP within a vertical format, particularly among a female audience.

I'm curious though how this will change going forward with the male audience growing exponentially as a percentage share of the consumer base for verticals. It's also an audience that has expressed less affinity for pre-existing IP and gravitates towards genres that have not met their demand yet in this format- i.e. sci-fi, horror, fantasy...

It'll be interesting to see which genre has the most room for original IP within the space.
